Possible reasons for high ALT:

  • ALT is highly liver specific, but is found also in skeletal muscle, heart, kidneys and gut. Weight loss, anorexia and obesity can increase ALT levels.

    Medication that can increase ALT levels: Paracetamol, NSAIDs, statins, phenytoin, allopurinol, and antibiotics, especially amoxicillin and more.
