Common reasons for low HCT:

  • Low hematocrit suggests anemia or hemodilution.

    Common causes include iron deficiency, vitamin B12 or folate deficiency, chronic kidney disease (reduced EPO), bone marrow disorders or suppression, blood loss, chronic inflammatory disease, hypothyroidism, and overhydration.
