SPINA-GD ranges

According to Dietrich et al. (2016), SPINA-GD should be between 20 and 60:

Why this optimal range?
Reference range 20-40 nmol/s as defined in SPINA-THYR software.
Ranges in red are: ±2xSD from the mean, ranges in yellow are ±1.5-2xSD from the mean.

Estimate of peripheral T4 to T3 conversion.

SPINA-GD estimates the maximum T3 production capacity from T4 by peripheral deiodinases under substrate saturation. Unlike simple FT3/FT4 ratios, it accounts for nonlinear enzyme kinetics.

SPINA-GD interpretation

For low

Low SPINA-GD indicates reduced peripheral T4-to-T3 conversion.

For high

High SPINA-GD indicates increased peripheral T4-to-T3 conversion.
